Cognitive Bias Mitigation Strategies in a Visual Analytics Environment for Criminal Intelligence Analysis

This position paper presents preliminary ideas how to support the mitigation of cognitive biases in the domain of criminal intelligence analysis. In order to mitigate biases, this paper proposes strategies included in a visual analytics environment for criminal intelligence analysis currently being developed in the VALCRI project. For closing the gap between psychological strategies and instructions for development, a set of design guidelines have been developed and will be presented.
